Munster have secured their place at the top of the URC standings after overcoming Ulster 29-24 in Saturday night’s final round clash. The hosts needed a win at Thom*ond Park to be sure of a place at the top of the tree, thereby earning top seeds in the playoffs. RG Snyman was among the try-scorers for Graham Rowntree’s side but was lucky to still be on the pitch to do so. Just eight minutes into the tie, the Springbok got himself in hot water for a collision on Ulster’s Will Addison. The towering lock caught the Ulsterman high as Addison had attempted to run the ball from inside his own five-metre area. Replays then showed that Snyman’s shoulder had made full contact with the head of Addison. Even though there was no attempt to wrap his hands, there was no card given at all despite the incident appearing to deserve a red. On commentary for RTE, Donal Lenihan described the matter as a ‘minimum yellow card’ at the very least. Over on social media, the ‘disgraceful’ call has more than a few naysayers online. ‘I’m sorry but that decision to only give pen against Snyman is a disgrace,’ one fan wrote. An utter disgrace. Dominant hit, shoulder to head and arm tucked – surely a ref should be reprimanded for that kind of decision?’ Absolutely. Snyman shouldn’t have been on for that try Ulster playing really well in Thom*ond. Aside from first 10 mins, Munster have been very inaccurate. Snyman very lucky to stay on. Bad mistake by Crowley at the end. Munster need to lift their game or they will have blown top spot #MUNvULS #UnitedRugbyChampionship Frank Murphy plays his heart out for Munster so far. Why is Snyman on the field? Frank Murphy absolutely bottled that Snyman tackle Watching munster v ulster ufc game, how did rg snyman not get a yellow or even a red there 🤷♂️i want to see a good game, but that was mad! Despite the defeat, Ulster are also sure of their play-off and are set for a quarter-final showdown with leinster. Today's top videos
